You know it's a great day at the Courtyards Senior Living when Elvis shows up!
the courtyards senior living was proud to be a table and punch sponsor at the snowflake ball for the senior companion program.
The purpose of the Senior Companion Program is to help senior adults. It provides part-time paid volunteer community service opportunities for low-income people age 55 and older. These volunteers in turn provide support services to older persons who have unmet physical, mental, or social needs.
Senior Companions serve the homebound elderly who need daily attention and assistance with small tasks such as preparing meals, visiting the doctor, or shopping. They provide friendship and support and enable those they serve to maintain their independence and improve the quality of their later years.
The Senior Companion Program has been administered by the Knoxville-Knox County Office on Aging since 1988. Funding comes from the Corporation for National and Community Service, as well as from Knoxville and Knox County. Community donations and sponsorships make it possible to serve additional homebound seniors in our community and are deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.

"To My Children" ~ An Anonymous Poem
When I spill some food on my nice clean dress
Or maybe forget to tie my shoe,
Please be patient and perhaps reminisce
About the many hours I spent with you.
When I taught you how to eat with care,
Plus tying laces and your numbers, too,
Dressing yourself and combing your hair,
Those were precious hours spent with you.
So when I forget what I was about to say,
Just give me a minute - or maybe two.
It probably wasn't important anyway,
And I would much rather listen just to you.
If I tell the story one more time,
And you know the ending through and through,
Please remember your first nursery rhyme
When I rehearsed it a hundred times with you.
When my legs are tired and it's hard to stand
Or walk the steady pace that I would like to do,
Please take me carefully by my hand,
And guide me now as I once did for you.

Q: How is The Courtyards Senior Living different from the others?
A: The most striking difference of The Courtyards is the quality and intimacy of the care we provide our residents. Much of this is due to the small size of our communities, with no building having more than 18 rooms. With so few residents, a more intimate, personal care plan can be maintained. Also, our nurses and caregivers develop close bonds with our residents and know their likes/dislikes, just like family. Please be sure to speak with our current residents when you visit, and ask your community advisor for a list of references.
Locations in Johnson City, Knoxville and Oak Ridge.
